Kenyatta Crisp—The I.C.A.R.Y Project / Impactful Changes for At Risk Youth

From the artist:  Kenyatta’s objectives as an artist is to inspire our inner-city youth around the importance of self-expression through photography and to educate our children about the fundamentals and history it holds in black culture. His photography will highlight the personality and life aspirations of our black youth. With the I.C.A.R.Y Project.

Five eligible high school students between the ages of 14 and 18 years will be selected for a summer internship. The end goal of this will be to feature each child in a curated installation to be showcased at a local exhibition within Cleveland, OH. The pictures will highlight each of their personality and life aspirations. These assignments will highlight various aspects of photography such as lighting, composition, posing, black and white photography, etc. Kenyatta wants this to be an immersive experience for the participants not just a project. This project will address social issues by shedding light on the aspirations of youth impacted by social issues such as poverty, violence, and lack of resources.
