Nick Lee — Between Cultures and People

“Between Cultures and People” is a solo exhibition by Nick Lee to dive further into a better representation of Asian Americans and to gain more insight into our community members. This show comes at a critical time in the United States for Asian Americans. We have seen how leaders of this country have disregarded the lives of the AAPI community since the pandemic started. Asian Americans deserve the same equality and space as any other American. Asian faces are rarely represented in western portraits or accurately depicted in our western media. In this exhibition, Nick Lee paints the faces of extraordinary people of Asian descent living in the Cleveland area. It is important to show the proper representation of marginalized groups to the viewers to inform them of what they really look like. This is an educational experience to learn more about one another through the use of oil painting.
